Work Ethics

Is it just me or does there seem to be a real lack of work ethics now days? Seems like people simply don't or can't do their jobs anymore. I'm not sure if it has to do with the economy or the lack of concern but people just don't seem to take pride in their work anymore. I've also noticed that these type people continually get promoted and advance much faster than those of us who do our jobs day in and day out without any flaws or problems. Why is that? Why do slackers and people with very little common sense advance so fast and end up being your manager when they have no management skills what so ever. These people are normally the ones that could care less what happens with the company or its employees. Simple jobs take them all day and when they do finish a job someone else normally has to come in behind them and fix their mistakes. If a problem should arise in the work place they will over look it because it would take too much work to get involved. How are these people removed from their positions, how do you get said person fired? You can't, they are protected by the very same human resource division that gave them the promotion to begin with. Thus creating a vicious cycle of the parent company wondering why they are losing money every year and the employees wondering why they can't get a rise or promotion. Wouldn't it be nice if there were common sense study groups that were mandatory for these managers to attend?

  • One and Done

Why does the state of Kentucky and every other state only require you to take your driving test one time? With all the accidents and deaths on our nation's highways every year you would think they would increase the testing just a little. I realize the thought is that most people should get better at driving as they get older but that simply isn't the case. I see more and more people on the roads everyday that should not be allowed to ride a bicycle let alone a motor vehicle that can travel down the road at well over 100mph. Just think of the revenue the states could generate by passing a law that requires citizens to take a driving test once every 10 years. Not only would they generate more money for their individual state but the amount of traffic violations, crashes and deaths would go down making our roadways a much safer place to travel on.

  • Lake Time

Tis the season for loading up the family and hitting the water for a nice day of sun and relaxation. For those of you that don't own boats or some sort of water craft you can still have an enjoyable time at the lake if you know where to go. For the most entertainment just head down to the ramp of any lake or river nearby and watch your fellow humans load and unload their boats. I promise you that you will have hours of laughter and you will eventually have to leave for fear of peeing your pants. I've seen people do things with boats and trailers that most definitely violate the user agreement set out in their warranties. I've seen just about everything from people completely sinking their boat while still attached to the trailer to watching a husband hook his wife in the shoulder with a crank bait. I believe my next business adventure will be teaching a class that educates people on how to back a trailer down a ramp without using both lanes and why you should load your boat before you get to the ramp. Nothing worse than watching someone take 20 minutes to get their boat to the water only to watch their family try and load the boat with coolers, pets, kids, etc., while still sitting on the ramp. The reason those people behind you are giving you dirty looks and calling you an idiot is because they didn't come to the water to watch you try and prove we came from monkeys.
