Honda Shadow Build

Started with a basically stock 85 Honda VT700 Shadow with around 44k miles on it. This bike was my fathers and it had been sitting in a shed for about 4 years when I got it. I put new tires and a new battery and rode it for a couple summers. I parked it out back and it sat for another 2 years. In 08 I decided that I would rebuild the bike and update some things such as wiring, chrome and various other items.

Stock Shadow

Tank and fenders were removed, sanded and repainted with Black Hammered paint. Engine crankcase and front fork tubes were painted with Black High Temp paint. Highway bars and floorboards were added to replace stock foot pegs. Front and passenger seats were recovered with leather fabric by JR. Rear turn signals were relocated to the rear brake light housing to make room for saddle bags. License plate was relocated to the rear axle bolt. Old exhaust removed and straight pipes installed with black exhaust wrap. Handle bars were painted flat black and Kuryakyn grips added. Spitfire tinted windshield added. Orange LED accent lights added under tank and rear saddle bags for a nice glow at night. Battery gauge mounted on handle bar for monitoring battery voltage and charging while riding.

(sorry for the blury pictures, I used my cell phone)

All in all this was a great winter project, I learned so much from simply taking the bike apart and rebuilding it. The only thing left to do is drain all the old fluids and take it out and get some better pictures.
